Grade School

The Grade School curriculum consists of the following prescribed regular subjects:

Major Subjects:

  • English (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and literary appreciation),
  • Filipino (wika, pagbabasa at literatura)
  • Maths (numbers, measurement, statistics, geometry, and pre-algebra)
  • Science (theory and inquiry)
  • Social Studies (Sibika/Araling Panlipunan with geography, history and citizenship)

Minor Subjects:

  • Christian Living Education (CLE)
  • Music Education
  • Art Education
  • Physical Education
  • Home Economics and Livelihood Education
  • Computer Education

Following the DEPED’s RBEC, Science is integrated into the teaching of English in Grades 1 and 2 but is taught as a separate subject starting in Grade 3.  And with Grade 1 serving as a transition between Pre School and Grade School, English, Science and Math are taught using an integrated approach.  Integration of subjects in the higher grades is achieved through classroom-based projects as well as school-wide programs and activities.

The program includes co-curricular activities to create opportunities for self expression and integration, for providing broader and richer learning experiences, as well as for cultivating talents and values.  These include:

  • School-wide projects (Math and Science Fair, Language Arts Week, Art and Music Festival, school plays, enterprise projects, to name a few)
  • Fieldtrips (focused minor fieldtrips to nearby learning destinations that involve one or two classes, and major fieldtrips involving larger groups and travellng farther afield)
  • The Student Council (with class officers, club and scout leaders, as well as  School Council officers)
  • The Scouting Program (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts)
  • Clubs (for writers, theater arts, sports, band music, cooking, and other clubs that may be created in the future).
  • Recollections and leadership trainings
  • Outreach Projects  (responding to community observances and needs as they arise)

Both curricular instructions and co-curricular activities aim to develop critical and creative thinking skills as well as personal and social skills.  Students are encouraged to ask questions, find ways of satisfying their curiosity through research and active inquiry, sharpen their practical competencies in the major and minor subjects, be resourceful and effective problem solvers,  cooperate and work harmoniously together, learn to resolve conflicts amongst themselves, and to value honesty, hard work and self-discipline.
