Ateneo De Davao Names Sports Center after Fr. Ed

In simple but solemn rites last March 11, 2011, the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) honored Fr. Ed Martinez, Ingenium Chairman and former ADDU president from 1993-2004 by naming its sports facility in its Matina Campus the "Martinez SportsCenter." Speaking for the Jesuit and lay community in ADDU, Fr. Antonio Samson, S.J., incumbent ADDU president, thanked Fr. Ed for having transformed that campuses in Matina and Jacinto into the world-class educational facility that they are all enjoying today.  Fr. Ben Nebres,S.J., president of the Ateneo de Manila University similarly acknowledged Fr. Ed's work in ADDU as the inspiration and model for the other Ateneos' subsequent physical transformations.

The naming ceremony was attended by the family and Ateneo High School '54 classmates of Fr. Ed., his former administrators and friends in Davao, as well as the ADDU Grade School and High School students.
